Quick answers
What if I'm not sure which modules to pick?
Start the free trial — every module is open for 30 days, so you can find out which ones your school actually uses before you pay for any of them. Then click Custom on the home page and pick those; each module has a 'Learn more' link with details and a short video.
Can I switch from Free to Packaged later?
Yes — at any point in (or after) the trial, hit Upgrade in the admin panel and choose a packaged plan or custom selection. Your data stays exactly where it is.
Is yearly really 17% cheaper?
Yearly billing is ~12× single month minus 2 months, so you save roughly 17%. Easier on cash flow if you pay term-by-term, but yearly is the better deal long-term.
How do payments work?
Razorpay — UPI, cards, netbanking, EMI. Receipts are auto-emailed and GST-compliant. For yearly invoices we can also bill against PO.
Can parents see fees and attendance on a phone?
Yes. The Parent Portal works in any phone browser, and there is an Android app for parents, students, teachers and the school shop — download it from the Mobile App page. An iPhone app is not out yet.
Do we have to buy any hardware?
For almost everything, no — it runs in a browser on the computers you already have, and there is no server to install. Two features need a device you probably already own: face attendance runs on an ordinary Android phone or tablet kept at the gate, and GPS/live location needs the app on a phone that is already travelling. No biometric machine, no card reader, no tracker box.
How does face attendance work, and what happens to the faces?
The camera device recognises the face on the device itself and sends the result, not the picture. What is stored is an encrypted mathematical template in your school's own database — it cannot be turned back into a photograph, and it never leaves that school. Fingerprint verification happens entirely on the person's own phone and never reaches us. A school that does not want it simply does not switch the module on.
What do SMS and WhatsApp messages cost?
Nothing extra from us. The notification module is part of your plan, but the messages go through your school's own MSG91 or WhatsApp Business account, which you connect in settings — that provider bills you directly at their rates. We do not resell messages or take a margin on them.
Who pays the Razorpay charge on online fees?
Razorpay charges the school its own transaction fee at their published rates, and the money settles into the school's account on their normal cycle. Pathsala adds nothing on top and takes no share of a fee payment — our only charge to you is the monthly subscription.
What about data security?
Each school gets its own database — a query that runs for one school can never read another's data. Your school's records sit on our server in India, traffic is encrypted and passwords are hashed. A few things do leave: email goes through Brevo, push notifications through Google, live classes through Jitsi. Our privacy page names every outside company and exactly what each one gets.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. There's no contract lock-in for monthly billing. Yearly plans are pro-rated on early cancellation per our refund policy.
